“What else do you do besides Face Painting?”

“What else do you do besides Face Painting?” I’ve been questioned many times before about what else I do for income and for the longest, I have been a struggling single parent. It didn’t start that way for the majority of the time. M-F I was raising kids, taking them to school, practices and doing things when life was hard at times like go to the laundry mat for hours or helping family when they needed rides, borrow my car, grocery drop offs, babysit. I was working at a salon from 2020-2022 that came to end because of covid shutting down many small shops. During the middle of 2021 to the beginning of 2022 I had a total of 14 seizures that put me in a hole, of not wanting to be social or do much of anything. Having 1 seizure means you can’t drive for 3 months. So I limited myself from taking events, and focused on what I felt like I could handle and did not want to do much. Once a few months passed I decided to go back to school at the age of 32 currently 33, to have something more stable in the long run since my kids are getting older. I also pushed myself to become a softball coach during the 2023 season which went great.

There are times I’m home sleeping more than the average person because my condition can have an overwhelming affect on my body. Rest is extremely important in my situation when my mind is always on the go. A few years back I applied to have an amazon store front since I would get questions about supplies I use, being told I should provide classes for kids. As I write this I manifested this; One day I hope to open my own local store in Oxnard to provide the supplies I use from face painting, paint shoes and bags, ect, to being able to have a hang out area to host parties or classes at my location. That is the dream. It’s a lot and overwhelming thinking about it but it would be a dream come true for any future artist with talent.

But for now if you’re interested in the supplies, tools and products I high recommend check out my amazon store front. I do earn a commission when you shop from my store. So thank you in advance and if you don’t find anything you are interested in but would like to help me grow with it, you can follow my store front, or share it.

Ms Brown…

“You wont get any where in life with art.” Imagine an adult telling you that there was no future to what you enjoyed doing when you were just 9 years old.

Aside from my passion what you don't see and wouldn't know about me, is that I have epilepsy. Epilepsy is a condition that a person suffers seizures from but I have been responsible and taking my medications. Since discovering face painting and working on my own, being my own boss, I have not experience a seizure since. So in a way I have so many clients and painter friends and most of all my family since the beginning to thank so much for helping me grow. It is true what they say about surrounding yourself with positive people and people that can relate to what you know that can help make a difference and grow. So keep that in mind with what ever your goals are.

“You wont get any where in life with art.” Imagine an adult telling you that there was no future to what you enjoyed doing when you were just 9 years old. Well this is exactly what happened to me. I loved art so much growing up, to have it all come to a stop and doubting myself every time after that. I bring up this story pretty often because I believe that any child with a gift should be supported rather than be told it’s a waste of their time. I also wish someone told me it takes practice daily. Improvement in art can change each year and with continuous dedication.

I have always been the type to work hard in retail and customer service before face painting. If I notice co workers not being productive it would bother me and make me feel like there’s no reason to take any job seriously but it probably has to do with how I was raised as well as not wanting to disappoint anyone. I set goals, short term and long term and have so much I would like to accomplish. After becoming a mother in 2012 I have accomplished a lot that I never thought would take me where I am in my life today. I was told to be a stay at home mom until help was needed and once you get me going there’s not stopping me.

In 2017 I was requested to do painting on some shoes, it wasn’t until the end of the summer of 2018 that I invested in high quality leather paints and started painting more shoes, then moved on to bags, wallets, jean jackets, canvas and more. There is so much more I would like to share but until next time.

This Ms Brown signing off.
